Prizes & Awards
OK, we know this bit is important to you all. The prizes change each year depending on our sponsors. So while we can’t tell you what you are going to win, you will definitely get four passes to PAX for each team member, and another four passes for each team member to bring along a guardian. Other than that it’ll just have to be a surprise!
If your team wins you will be asked to travel to PAX in Melbourne for the awards ceremony. If you can’t, that’s okay, we will sort out something with your school. At the awards ceremony you will get your prize and have lots of photos taken. Your game and GDD will be on display for people to look at and play. We may also have a panel discussion about gaming and education that you will have to attend. Other than that you are free to enjoy three (3) days of fun and gaming magic at PAX.
Each year, our awards ceremony is conducted as part of the program for PAX Australia – one of the southern hemisphere’s largest games and interactive entertainment exhibitions. The event takes place in Melbourne in either late October or early November, and provides our winners with a fantastic opportunity to showcase their games to the public.
One of the most important aspects of the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge is our approach to intellectual property rights. We believe that it is important that students are able to claim ownership over whatever they create.
The intellectual property rights for all games submitted for judging in the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge remain with the students themselves, and as such we do not make the winning games available for play or download on our website, except with the students’ permission.
